Like a suspended poem, “Éponger la mer avec un mouchoir de poche” ( Sponging the sea with a Handkerchief) seems to float silently in space. A series of aquatints printed on veil is crossed by the ambient light which draws a movement of shimmering shadows on the wall.
The pocket handkerchief, an intimate object with multiple symbolisms and uses depending on its context, becomes a support for the imagination of the sea. This living immensity which reflects our existential crossings. At the crossroads of the intimate and the universal, form, words and colour meet to give birth to the mystery of art and poetry.
Come una poesia sospesa,<< Éponger la mer avec un mouchoir de poche>> sembra fluttuare silenziosamente nello spazio. Una serie di acquatinte stampate su organza che lascia trasparire la luce ambientale disegnando un movimento di ombre luccicanti sulla parete. Il fazzoletto, oggetto intimo impregnato di simboli, utilizzabile in svariati modi a seconda del contesto, diventa il mezzo per immaginare il mare, questa immensità viva che riflette le nostre traversate esistenziali. Al crocevia dell’intimo e dell’universale, forma, parola e colore si incontrano per dare vita al mistero dell’arte e della poesia.
About the artist:
Camille Truyffaut is born in Namur in 1993. She lives and works in Brussels. She studied engraving techniques at the Royal Academy of fine Arts of Antwerp, where she obtained her master’s degree in 2018.
She won the first prize for engraving and the Swa Berten prize. In 2021 she was selected for exhibiting at La Triennale Internationale de la Gravure Contemporaine de Liège.
Camille Truyffaut è nata a Namur nel 1993. Vive e lavora a Bruxelles. Ha studiato Tecniche dell’incisione presso l’Académie royale des beaux-arts d’Anvers, dove ha ottenuto il master degree nel 2018.
Ha vinto il primo premio per l’incisione e il Swa Berten prize. Nel 2021 è stata selezionata dalla Triennale Internationale de la Gravure Contemporaine de Liège.
